The challenge of food photography

I so want to take really excellent food photographs... I've looked for resources, but much of it seems written for professional food stylists and photograpers -- which I am not. For me, it is going to be a process of trial and error. DH, who worked for a number of years for two brothers who emigrated from Cuba as kids, cooked tonight's dinner of cuban sandwiches and tostones (fried green plantains). I know exactly what you mean. I was going through the same struggle. Most of the tutorials and material is not written for those who are just getting started.

Food Photography is specially very complicated. Unlike other genres of photography, food photography does not only require you to know photography technique, but food presentation and other things as well.

I am not sure how much you know about photography, I would suggest picking up a photography book first before picking a "food photography" book.
